Hello,
Welcome to another issue of Appreciation in Action. I hope you are doing well and appreciating this wonderful time of year. There's so much to be grateful for. Speaking of gratitude, I'm fired up about next week’s launch of my new book, FOCUS ON THE GOOD STUFF: The Power of Appreciation! Be on the lookout for an email announcing the book’s release and our exciting online best-seller campaign on Tuesday, August 28th. Thank you for your continued interest and support of me and my work. I am honored to have you on this list and love being able to connect with you like this each month.
With Appreciat ion,

Go For It
“What would you do if you knew you could not fail?”
I love this question and famous quote from Robert Schuller. I remember the first time I heard this question – my initial response was “anything!”
With my book coming out next week I am feeling a variety of emotions – joy, fear, gratitude, anxiety, excitement, apprehension, pride, and much more. From the time I first had the thought about writing a book until now it has been over ten years. What took me so long? Fear!
Most of us get ourselves tied up into knots about what we think we can and can’t do. As Henry Ford famously said, “Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right.”
We worry about looking stupid, messing up, or going for it and not making it. Sadly, this fear is what often holds us back from doing the things we really want to do in life. We’re waiting for a guarantee or until we’re “ready.” Guess what, there are no real guarantees and for the most part we are both always ready and never ready at the same time.
Think of the times in your life when you’ve felt most alive, most empowered, and most inspired. At those moments, I bet you were really going for it. Life is played on the “field,” not on the “sidelines .” The problem is that on the field we can fall down, get hurt, mess up, be embarrassed, or fail miserably. However, it’s only on this playing field of life where we can experience the joy, the wonder, and the true gratitude of being alive. We don’t usually regret the things we do; we regret the things we don’t do.
What if you were able to go for it more often in your life, in your relationships, in your work, and with your dreams? Would that be scary? Of course it would; but that's just part of life. If you’re not a little scared, it probably doesn’t matter to you that much.
In 1988 Susan Jeffers wrote a famous book called, Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway. What a great message and what a great mantra. I challenge you to go for it and see what happens.

Make a list of some big things you’ve been putting off because you’re scared that you’ll fail or you’re waiting until you’re “ready.” Pick one of these things and make a commitment to taking a specific action towards the realization of this goal or dream. Let at least one person in your life know about this goal and your specific action. Have this person hold you accountable for taking this action. Keep making commitments like this, going for it, and trusting yourself – you’ll be amazed at what you'll accomplish. Remember, feel your fear and go for it anyway!
