Thank you for this wonderful post Mike. I will admit with all of the news and events swirling around as well as some personally challenging relationships I was feeling my energy drain and slipping into the victim mode. Do you know one of the best ways I found to move out of the victim mode and take back my power? Give - give my time, talent, gifts and share the essence of who I really am. Most recently, my daughter's friend of over 3 years with whom she went to college went to Haiti to celebrate the New Year. When the earthquake hit, my daughter was devastated. Fortunately, thanks to facebook she found out she and her family survived. She was in Port Au Prince - a miracle in and of itself and the fact she had computer access was also a miracle. She posted her status on facebook that she just wanted to die in peace - she had lost her visa and travel documents and was due to start back to classes to get her bachelors (they got their associates degree together at a community college). When my daughter read her status she said there must be something we can do. I said let's pray and through prayer came direction for action. I called our congressman (and God told me which one to call) and then received guidance to contact UMass Boston where she was to start classes yesterday. Everyone we spoke with was overflowing with love and light and we are all taking action to get her home and to make sure that she has the supports in place she'll need once she gets back home. I feel so empowered that in the wake of the worst circumstances, love and blessings prevail as long as we do not allow ourselves to get sucked into the undertow of being a victim. I also focus my gaze on gratitude and that always helps me to stay feeling empowered as I give thanks for all that is right in my world and how blessed I am - even in the challenges there is light, love, blessings and lessons to be learned and movement toward being the best I can be and live my life as the Being I truly am - a child of God. With the faith of a mustard seed, mountains can move!
