I really appreciate this concept, but practicing it can be a challenge, especially when one is surrounded by victims (whiners)....
I like to think of my son. He's not perfect, but I couldn't love him any more than I do. Victims compare others' outsides to their insides-- it's a limited scope to begin with. But when i think of the love I have for my son, I wouldn't trade places with anyone. Ever.

What a genuine article and story! Indeed the two don`t match. You`re either grateful for something or you decide to be a victim. You can`t be both.
When I finished your book " The Power of Appreciation" a few months ago, I`ve started to take a few moments every day and think what I`m grateful for.It helps a lot with my self-esteem and my confidence...and with everything!

Thank you Mike for sharing with us, all this! It really makes a difference! :)

Hi Mike - The practice of gratitude is also a wonderful antidote to when I encounter a person who exudes negative energy. It is a wonderful protective layer that I can wrap myself in when faced with someone who is complaining or someone who knows how to 'push my buttons'. It helps to strengthen my immune system to toxic energy because when I am centered in that space of deep appreciation for the blessings in my life, as you said, there is no room for anything else. My heart just continues to feel wonderful as I bathe in the warmth of gratitude and appreciation. And I am so grateful to you and your blog. By the way, I met Sallie and Conway Felton who shared with me that you were a guest on their show. I will go back and listen to the podcast. God bless and be well.
