Dear Mike - I work in hospice care. Your words touched me so much because all of us work with people who are dying - every day. Here is a quote you might also appreciate by Og Mandino…”Beginning today, treat everyone you meet as if they were going to be dead by midnight. Extend to them all the care, kindness and understanding you can muster, and do it with no thought of any reward. Your life will never be the same again.”

Your article deeply resonates with me. The reality that none of us are promised tomorrow is something we need to be mindful of every day. Thank you for being my “reminder” today.

It is amazing when you live more in moment the things you notice. For example driving and you notice a beautiful sunrise, or sitting next to my daughter and seeing her smile while watching TV. Those little microsecond moments are gone so quickly but living with more appreciation and awareness has helped me capture more of them and helps me to have a fab day.

I sang at a funeral last year with the body of the deceased present. The minister’s eulogy was about being “born again” in relation to the birth process. At one point he pointed to the body and said, “THIS is the after-birth.” That idea really made think think about what the next layer of life might be like.

This article meant so much to me. Last year I had some tough experiences and in a weird way, being at my lowest also gave me a strange freedom since I felt like I had nothing to lose. This was by no means a healthy extreme, but I find myself getting so afraid and overwhelmed when I constantly try to protect against and anticipate all the things that could possibly go wrong in life. This article helped me to remember that freedom from fear I had when I was depressed, but also to remember to appreciate it now in my life where I can also have the blessing of happiness and freedom from my depression.
