Prior to
his speaking and coaching career, Mike was drafted by the New York Yankees out of high school, but turned them down and accepted a schorlarhip to play baseball at Stanford
University where he pitched in the College World Series.
After college, Mike was drafted by the Kansas City
Royals. He played three seasons of professional baseball with the
Royals before arm injuries ended his playing career.
After
his athletic career was cut short by injuries, Mike worked in sales and
business development for two Internet start-up companies, before starting his own consulting firm in 2001. He has
extensively studied many disciplines of both personal and professional
development, and received training from the nationally acclaimed
Coaches Training Institute.
Mike
has worked with some of America’s top organizations and
institutions such as AT&T, Apple Computer, UC Berkeley, the US
Department of Labor, New York Life Insurance, Stanford University, Chevron, and
many others.
He is the author of the bestselling book, Focus on the Good Stuff: The Power of Appreciation. Mike and his work have been featured on ABC News, on the Oprah and Friends radio network, and in Forbes.
Mike
graduated from Stanford with a B.A. in American Studies and a specialization in race and ethnicity. He, his wife Michelle, and their daughter Samantha live in the San Francisco Bay Area.
